Pop star is ready to play ball

Lady Gaga has landed the star spot at next year’s NFL Super Bowl halftime show.

A source told Us Weekly, the 30-year-old has signed on for the 51st football championship event at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on February 5 2017.

It won’t be the first time the Perfect Illusion singer has appeared on the football field.

Last February she wore a shiny red Gucci trouser suit to kick off Super Bowl 50 with a powerhouse rendition of the national anthem.

Speaking before that performance Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, told NFL Network: ‘This is one of the highest honors of my career.

‘I get a chance to sing for all the athletes, who have been working so hard their whole lives for this moment, the coaches, as well as the fans in the stands who are waiting for this moment.

‘I think it marks what being an American is all about.’

Following her performance Coldplay, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars took to the stage.

Others who have also graced the stage in previous years include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paul McCartney, Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz, Madonna Missy Elliott, Madonna, Nicky Minaj and Bruce Springsteen

Meanwhile, Gaga recently revealed her fifth studio album, Joanne, will be released on October 21.

On Friday, she shared a clip from her new Perfect Illusion music video on Instagram and announced it will air on Tuesday when Scream Queens returns to Fox for its second series.

Meanwhile, Gaga is presently starring with Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett in Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy’s anthology series American Horror Story: Roanoke, which kicked off its sixth season on FX last Wednesday.
