SHOCKING Great British Bake Off news revealed

Will this be the last ever series?

| Updated:

Is this the end of The Great British Bake Off?

It has been announced that this current series of the popular show will be the last on the BBC.

Love Productions, that make the programme, have confirmed that they will not be renewing the contract with the BBC.

A spokesman for the production company cited money and brand development for its reasoning behind leaving the BBC.

So, will this mean that we won’t be seeing Paul Hollywood’s soggy bottom again?

Not unless there is commercial breaks in it by the sounds of it.

Love Productions do not look like they will be changing their minds to let Bake Off stay ad-free on the BBC.

The current series is averaging around 11 million viewers with last year’s final topping the charts for most popular entertainment TV show with 15.1 million viewers.

Love Productions said in a statement: “After an extraordinary six-year journey with the BBC, Love Productions announces with regret that it has been unable to reach agreement on terms to renew the commission of The Great British Bake Off.

“We will now be focusing on finding a new partner to develop the familiar show that the British public turn to in their millions.

The statement continued: “Love Productions would like to thank the BBC for the role it played in making this show such an enormous hit, and the faith they showed in us over the years to develop it.”

Love Productions revealed that the BBC had upped their offer but it was still rejected and they declared that they would not be reversing their decision.

It has not been decided where Bake Off will be heading, so enjoy this series as it could be all change after this.
