Martin Kemp makes frank brain tumour admission

Earlier this month, Martin and Roman launched a joint podcast.

During the podcast’s first episode, titled Death, Martin was asked by his son how long he thinks he has left.

Martin replied saying: “I’ll be really honest with you, 10 years.”

“I don’t know how long I’ve got left, but I will tell you, since I was the age of 34, when I went through all of that brain tumour scare, I spent two years of my life thinking I was going to die,” he then continued.

“And I think after that, everything else, every day, every year, every month that I’ve lived, every experience that I’ve had has been a bonus.”

The Spandau Ballet star then continued.

“And I will tell you something, it’s really strange that when I was 34 and stuff and I went through that brain tumour stuff, I was practically resigned to the fact that I was going to die, but I was quite happy with my lot, because I had lived the most incredible experiences,” he said.

“I’ve lived the most incredible life. By the time I was 34 and I thought I was going to die, I spent two years thinking about it, I was quite happy, I thought: ‘If I go, do you know what? What a life, and that was back then’. So every year that I live, every month that I’m alive now is like a bonus,” he then added.

Martin had been diagnosed with two benign tumours after wife Shirlie noticed a mass growing on his head. She told him to get it checked.

“If they’d never found this one growing out, they wouldn’t have found the one in the middle until it was too late, and that was the one that would have killed me,” he said on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories in 2014.

Martin cancels gigs

Martin’s confessions come not long after he was forced to pull out of two gigs last month.

The former EastEnders star regularly performs his Back to the 80s DJ set at venues around the country.

However, at the end of April, Martin was forced to cancel two gigs.

“I’m really sorry to say but I’m going to have to pull out of my show tonight and tomorrow night due to sickness,” he tweeted at the time.

“This is a last resort and not a decision I took lightly. Hope to see you all again in the near future.”

Fans immediately sent their support. Some urged Martin to get a lot of “TLC” from wife Shirlie to speed up his recovery.
