Giovanni Pernice given boost after it’s ‘confirmed’ his tour with Anton Du Beke will go ahead

Giovanni is under investigation following claims made by his former Strictly partners

Giovanni Pernice has been given a boost after it was seemingly confirmed his dance tour with fellow Strictly star Anton Du Beke will go ahead.

They are due to kick off dates from June 14 in Anton & Giovanni Together. There are no plans to pull the plug. This is in spite of the fact the BBC has launched an official investigation into Giovanni after a series of complaints from his celebrity dance partners.

Giovanni Pernice ‘still going on tour’

A source told The Mirror: “This has been a really difficult time for Giovanni but the tour with Anton is going ahead.

“There is no reason for it to be cancelled or even postponed. Gio has not been found guilty of anything, though he is the subject of much speculation. The Back Together tour will go ahead, and he and Anton will be standing up on stage together as they have done for many tours.”

The Strictly Theatre Co, who is behind the tours, continue to promote this tour as well as Giovanni’s solo shows in early 2025.

It’s not such good news for Anton and Gio’s travel shows however. Reports suggest their Adventures In… series has been axed. When the second series of the show came to an end earlier this year, Giovanni hinted that another spin-off could be on the cards.

But an insider has now claimed to The Sun: “Giovanni and Anton had conversations about another travel show and had discussed where they could go next after their trips to Sicily and Spain. But Giovanni has now been told this won’t be happening and there will not be another series.

“It’s embarrassing because he’d actively hinted about getting another run but all discussions are off and he’s been told the show is on the scrapheap now.”

ED! has contacted the BBC and reps for Giovanni and Anton for comment.

Lawyers instructed by Giovanni

Earlier this week, it was confirmed Giovanni has instructed lawyers to clear his name. It comes following allegations concerning his time on Strictly Come Dancing.

He has been a pro on the show since 2015. However he has has now reportedly quit Strictly after concerns about his conduct hit the headlines.

On 2023’s show, Gio was partnered with actress Amanda Abbington. She withdrew in October on medical grounds. It was later reported Amanda had suffered PTSD. She also requested recordings of her training sessions.

The BBC issued a statement addressing duty of care on Strictly back in January. And, at the time, The Sun suggested the BBC was offering Giovanni ‘full support’.

It was then alleged two other of Giovanni’s former dance partners – Laura Whitmore and Ranvir Singh – had met with Amanda.

Giovanni defends himself

Earlier this month Giovanni shared a statement on Instagram. In it, he rejected “any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour”.

Now, however, The Sun reports the BBC is investigating claims – and Giovanni is “fully cooperating”. He has instructed law firm Schillings to act for him

The spokesman said: “Schillings is engaging with BBC Studios to provide it with Giovanni’s evidence to strongly rebut the claims being made about him and confirm that Giovanni is fully cooperating with that process.

“As with any reality TV show, when decisions are being made for entertainment reasons, the producers have a duty of care to all participants.”
